Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are tooth colored restorations used to repair teeth that are worn, decayed, chipped or broken. Modern composites can also sometimes be used to close the gap between two teeth. Because composite fillings are tooth colored, they can closely match the natural color of your existing teeth making them ideal for use in front teeth or the more visible areas of the mouth.

When you get a composite filling your Dentist will remove the decayed or affected portion of the tooth while the tooth is numb. The Dentist will then fill the tooth with a composite filling and carefully shape it to fit the natural contours of your tooth. When finished, your new tooth colored composite filling will be a part of your tooth and virtually invisible. It is not unusual for some patients to experience sensitivity to hot and cold when composite fillings are first placed. This will usually quickly go away as your tooth gets used to the new filling. Composite fillings are very durable, and will give you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
